I get it... I've been there too.
You get time to yourself at home and suddenly all your personal goals and to-do lists disappear. You look at your watch or clock and realize it is 10:00 P.M. and you have gotten nothing accomplished for the day. Where did all the time go? I like to call it the "Boredom Cycle". (I know, that's a very clever name.) You get into a cycle of boredom and cannot get out of it. There are three main reasons you begin the cycle: 1) You get into a bad mood. You have received some negative news... It's pouring buckets outside... There is nothing appetizing to eat in your fridge. I get it, we all have negative days. You get into a bad mood, and suddenly don't have the strength or energy to do anything. 2) You just don't know what to do. This is the easiest way to get into the cycle. You generally are just bored. You had canceled plans or woke up without any goals for the day. Chances are you'll spend the day on the couch or in bed streaming something. 3) You feel unproductive. This always catches people off-guard. When you feel like you are being unproductive, it usually pushes you to keep doing nothing. I know personally that when I feel like my efforts are getting me nowhere, I tend to stop trying to get to my original goal. The way it becomes a cycle is that once you've gotten into a phase, it induces the other phases. Being in a bad mood means you don't have the energy to do anything, not doing anything creates boredom, and being bored makes you feel unproductive which then generates a bad mood. No matter what phase you start on, it is easy to get stuck in the cycle. Then before you realize it, you've wasted your entire spring break or summer (etc.)... Here are ways to instantly break out of the Boredom Cycle: 1) You have to own up to being unproductive. If you don't address an issue, it will never get fixed. Once you realize you are wasting time, it is easier to break out of the cycle. 2) You have to set goals for yourself. If you don't make goals to fill up your empty time, then what are you going to do? Whether it's working out or watching one episode a day of your favorite TV series... Set realistic daily goals to fill up your time. 3) Get out of your funk. If you are in a bad mood or feeling unproductive, be proactive with your life. Turn on some good dancing music, paint your nails, cook a meal... Whatever it takes to pull you out of a bad mood! Once you are feeling better about yourself, you'll be more open-minded and optimistic towards your goals. 4) Organise your day. One of the biggest reasons you are wasting time is because you don't realize how much time you are wasting! I dare each and every reader (male or female) to research bullet journaling either online or on Pinterest because it has changed my life. Before journaling, I couldn't keep track of when I had appointments, how much water I had been drinking or when I was spending time outside... I literally would forget what I had for dinner the night before. Once I started bullet journaling I was doing more than I had been doing the past month and a half. Suddenly, I had time to work out, make and edit videos, start a blog, drink half a gallon of water a day (which yes, can be time-consuming). So consider taking up journaling, because I promise it is worth your time and effort. If you follow these four small and easy steps, I promise you will start to see a change in how much you can accomplish each day. Not only will you become more proactive in your free time, but you will begin creating healthy habits and become more optimistic when creating goals and tasks. My next blog post will show you how to break your day down by the hour and create an effective schedule for maximum productivity! Stay tuned Signing off, Syd

Wow, so at the first launch of my blog, 34 people took time out of their day to look at it. Thank you if you were one of those people! (Also, thanks to anyone reading this now!) As someone who is very self-conscious, launching this blog was hard for me. However, this is something I have ALWAYS been passionate about so I had to! I think my blog shaped up to be pretty okay for being only two days old... I have a lot more goals for 2018 and since the year is only halfway over, I plan to tackle as many as possible. ~ GOALS FOR 2018 ~ 1. Grow my Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and blog to 1000 followers/viewers 2. Get a tattoo and peircing 3. Make straight A's my 1st semester in college 4. Have my photography featured in a again (online or physically) 5. Make 10 friends 1st semester 6. Travel somewhere fun during 1st semester I am not sure I will get to do all these things before 2019 hits, but I am 100% going to give it my all! Stay tuned on any of my Socials to find out if I accomplish these goals or not!
Until next time, Syd PS- I put my Socials down below so you can follow my journey! (And hopefully so I get closer to accomplishing my 1st goal listed above, lol) I suppose I should introduce myself...
My name is Sydney Nicole Smith. I know, boring right. There are probably thousands of girls with the same name. But that's okay, I choose to try and stand out in other ways. Eh, that's a stretch. I'm eighteen and plan to vlog/blog, and do photography as a career. That's very cliche. I come from a small boring town, where the only excitement is hearing about the monstrosities happening in the city thirty minutes away. So naturally, because I am a cliche, my first big decision as an adult was to pick a college in a big city. A huge one actually. Far away from where I am now... This fall I am moving to Pittsburgh. I haven't been there since I was... What? Maybe eight. I had an aunt who lived there for awhile. Point is: I have never walked the streets of Pittsburgh alone and I don't know the city well. I don't go until mid-August; however, this is something you begin planning for in advance. This is the first shot I have at becoming a big name in the art and entertainment industries. I am both excited and terrified. I don't have to go through it alone though. I plan to bring you guys along with me. Stay tuned for more updates on my transition from small town hermit to big city extrovert. Hopefully, you and I will get to know Pittsburgh like the back of our hands. Signing off, Syd |
